Today, we embark on an unforgettable journey from Cairo to explore two remarkable sites: Wadi Al Hitan, also known as the Valley of the Whales, and Wadi El Rayan in the scenic Fayoum Oasis. 07:00 – Departure from Cairo:
We start our day bright and early with a pickup from your hotel in Cairo. Our comfortable air-conditioned car will take us on a scenic drive towards the charming Tunis village in El Fayoum Oasis, located in the Western Desert. The journey spans approximately 126 km and takes about 2 hours.
10:00 – Arrival at Wadi Al Hitan:
Upon reaching Tunis village, we switch to a Toyota Land Cruiser 4×4 to venture into Wadi Al Hitan, also known as Whale Valley. This area is not just a scenic wonder but also holds significant geological and paleontological importance. It was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005 due to its rich fossil record, including ancient whale skeletons dating back 45 million years. also known as Whale Valley. Exploring Wadi Al Hitan:

Wadi Al Hitan – A UNESCO World Heritage Site Wadi Al Hitan is a protected area, recognized by UNESCO for its significant paleontological discoveries, including petrified primitive whale skeletons, shark teeth, shells, and mangrove roots preserved in soft rocks. Discovered in 1936 and dating back 45 million years, this open-air museum offers a unique glimpse into the Earthās ancient past.
Ā Weāll visit the Fossil & Climate Change Museum, which showcases a variety of whale fossils and skeletons both outdoors and indoors. The indoor exhibits feature fossils, skeletons, fossilized mangroves, and ancient seashells displayed in glass boxes.
14:00 – Lunchtime:
After an enriching exploration, it’s time to recharge with a delicious lunch at Wadi Al Hitan rest house.Ā
15:00 – Drive to The Magic Lake and Gebel Al-Mudawara
Following lunch, we’ll embark on a scenic drive back to Tunis village, passing by the enchanting Magic Lake, known for its ever-changing colors and breathtaking sunsets. Surrounded by desert, itās a perfect spot for hiking, or even swimming. The lakeās mineral-rich waters are believed to have therapeutic properties for rheumatism.
Ā Magic Lake, as its name suggests, offers a mesmerizing sight with its ever-changing colors and surrounding sand dunes. Meanwhile, Gebel Al-Mudawara provides a picturesque backdrop for relaxation and picnics.
Wadi El Rayan:
We’ll also explore Wadi El Rayan, a depression 42 meters below sea level, which was transformed into a water reservoir in 1966. Wadi El Rayan, a depression that became a water reservoir connected to Qarun Lake by an underground pipe. This area boasts natural beauty and serves as a tranquil retreat.
Tea Time by Sunset:
As the day draws to a close, we’ll indulge in a relaxing tea time by the sunset, soaking in the beauty of the desert landscape.

18:00 – Return to Cairo:
Our adventure concludes as we make our way back to Tunis village and then head back to Cairo. Throughout the journey, you’ll be accompanied by an expert tour guide who will provide insights into the sites we visit. Return to Cairo As the day comes to an end, with an expected arrival time of 20:00.
